Mumbai: Gangster Anil Pandit, who claimed responsibility for the firing on Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff’s car, has been named a wanted accused in the case, Mumbai Police told the Esplanade Magistrate’s Court on Thursday. The court remanded four newly arrested accused in police custody till October 26, rejecting the police request to extend their custody till October 31.

The four accused were identified as Kunal (21) and Sumit (19), both from Haryana’s Sonipat district, and Radha (23) and Babita (23), both from Uttar Pradesh. They were brought to Mumbai from Kota, Rajasthan, and produced before the court after undergoing medical examinations.

Pandit, a 32-year-old alleged associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang believed to be operating from the US, had claimed responsibility for the October 18 attack in a social media post.

The Mumbai Police Crime Branch told the court that the firing was carried out at Pandit’s behest and that the four accused had participated in the conspiracy along with three people arrested earlier in Kota. According to the police, Kunal and Sumit collected a pistol and 20 rounds from Amritsar on Pandit’s instructions, while Radha and Babita travelled to Mumbai and handed over the weapon and ammunition to other conspirators.

Defence lawyers Ajinkya Mirgul and Satyavrat Joshi opposed the police custody request, arguing that there was no material evidence against the four accused and that they had been arrested on mere suspicion.

On Wednesday, the court remanded three other accused — Rehan alias Sukka, from Sonipat in Haryana; Ritik Kurmi alias Roshan, originally from Begusarai in Bihar and residing in Mumbai; and Phool Singh, from Haryana — in police custody till October 31. Mumbai Police have arrested 10 people so far in connection with the case and registered an attempt-to-murder case.

The incident took place around 7 pm on October 18 in Mumbai’s Juhu area, when at least two men allegedly opened fire at Shroff’s car as he was leaving a football club. The assailants fled on a motorcycle, which was later found abandoned in suburban Andheri. Shroff escaped unhurt, while his driver and a bystander were injured.

Following the attack, Shroff’s team shared a video showing bruises and marks on the actor, expressing gratitude to God for keeping him safe. The team captioned the post, “God is kind.”

On Tuesday, the actor’s team also warned against the circulation of fabricated stories, unauthorised statements and AI-generated videos falsely attributed to him. In a statement shared on social media, it clarified that Shroff had not issued any statements, released any videos or authorised any communication concerning the firing incident or related developments.

The team urged media organisations and social media platforms to verify information before publishing it and warned that legal action could be initiated against individuals and pages creating, promoting or circulating such content.
