Xiangjiang: Village cafés have mushroomed in Lianhua Town of Xiangjiang New Area, central China's Hunan Province. Repurposing disused rural residences and open land, these sites have grown into rural cultural and leisure hubs that boost local employment and fuel tourist arrivals.

Distinctive village cafés are popping up across China's countryside, integrated with compound offerings including rural bookstores, cultural and creative retail, light dining, glamping and homestays to revamp rural leisure landscapes.

According to reports, village cafés in China now come in four main types: photo-op landscape spots, culture-tourism integrated venues, farm-affiliated outlets, and cluster projects that cover entire villages.

Rather than focusing solely on sightseeing, these cafés use a cup of coffee to reinvent the rural leisure experience, transforming fields, distant hills, and rice paddies' fragrance into coveted retreats for city dwellers.

This trend fits well with the current demand for destinations that are "close to nature yet not far from the city," and it is also beginning to change the daily lives of villagers.
