Millets are known for their nutritional value; adding them to breakfast is a healthy way to start the day. These gluten-free grains provide you with protein, fibre and essential minerals. A bowl of millets will give you fullness and energy throughout the day.

Ingredients

  • Milk - 1 cup
  • Water - 1 ½ cups
  • Sugar - to taste, or can be skipped too
  • Ghee - 1 tablespoon
  • Cardamom powder - ½ teaspoon
  • Peanuts - 5-10

Preparation

Wash multiple times and pre-soak the millet overnight. Drain off the water, then dry roast in a pan for about 5 minutes and keep it aside.

In a thick-bottomed pan, boil the water and add the roasted millet. Cover and cook for 3 minutes. Then pour in the milk and let it all cook till the millet absorbs all the milk and becomes soggy. Add sugar and mix it all well. Now add the cardamom powder, peanuts and ghee; blend it all well and turn off the heat.

You can have it as such or use this as a base and add cut fruits, nuts and seeds to make it richer.
