Police used tear gas and baton charges on Parliament Street in New Delhi on Monday after thousands of protesters marching towards Parliament breached a barricade during a demonstration demanding education reforms. The protest, organised by the Cockroach Janta Party and supported by several student organisations and professionals, turned tense as demonstrators attempted to move towards Parliament during the opening day of the Monsoon Session.
