New Delhi: The BJP has named senior Chhattisgarh leader Deepak Mhaskey as its new national social media convenor under president Nitin Nabin. Based in Raipur and a permanent invitee of the Chhattisgarh BJP, Mhaskey is known for his work in electoral data analysis and beneficiary outreach.

Born in 1968, Mhaskey holds an M.Sc. in Chemistry, a diploma in Cement Technology and training in computer programming. He began his career as a college chemistry professor and has also worked in horticulture and organic farming. His professional experience includes social welfare programmes, digital awareness initiatives and data analysis, particularly of electoral data and government beneficiary schemes.

Within the BJP, Mhaskey has earlier led the party's Chhattisgarh IT Cell and served as a state spokesperson. His experience in electoral data and digital outreach forms part of his organisational background.

Mhaskey is currently chairman of the Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation Limited (CGMSC), with the rank of a state minister. The CGMSC's official system currently lists him as its chairman.

Mhaskey was appointed a non-official independent director of Engineers India Limited (EIL) in November 2021 and was reappointed for a second term in March 2025.

In his new role, Mhaskey will be assisted by Priti Gandhi, Shivanand Dwivedi, Alok Bhatt and Arun Yadav as social media co-convenors. The appointment marks a shift in the BJP's digital team, with Mhaskey bringing experience in technology, electoral data and organisational work to the party's national social media operations.
