Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday said the dream of an airport at Warangal is now taking shape with the required land being handed over to the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
In a post on X, he also sought suggestions for naming the airport.
The BRS was in power for 10 years and still failed to make Warangal’s long-pending airport dream a reality, while its leaders remained focused on family interests and luxury farmhouses, Reddy alleged.
"Under the people's governance of Congress, the dream is finally becoming a reality," he said.
The Telangana government has allocated Rs 295 crore for land acquisition for the construction of the airport at Mamnoor at Warangal, he said.
The required land has now been fully acquired and handed over to the AAI and the airport project is now taking shape on the ground, he said.
The airport to come up at Warangal "is not just an airport but a new gateway for industry, tourism, education, jobs and investment," he said.
"Looking forward to flying from Mamnoor Airport, Warangal - a new symbol of a growing and connected Telangana. What should we name Warangal’s new airport..? Give your suggestions..!!", Reddy said.
Meanwhile, Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy on Saturday said the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed airport at Warangal was under preparation and that the layout of the airport buildings was in the final stages of preparation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to perform the 'bhoomi puja' for the airport, Kishan Reddy said.
