CEC row LIVE: Congress declares ‘Black Day’; CJP to hold ‘chappal’ protest in Bengaluru
The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has called for a 'chappal protest' at Bengaluru’s Freedom Park today, in solidarity with three women journalists who have alleged sexual harassment by Delhi Police personnel during the protests in New Delhi. The demonstration will follow a People’s Tribunal on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, where people from Karnataka who say they were wrongly excluded from the voter rolls are expected to share their experiences.
Congress declared October 8 a 'Black Day' and announced protests across state, district and block levels over police action against opposition leaders.
The party alleged that Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and other INDIA bloc MPs were subjected to force and lathi-charge during their protest against CEC Gyanesh Kumar.
Rahul and Priyanka were among the opposition leaders detained by Delhi Police after protesters attempted to move past barricades near Jantar Mantar.
Congress said it would continue its campaign until Gyanesh Kumar is removed and the integrity of the electoral system is restored.
