New Delhi: The Delhi Police has granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the Congress party to hold a protest at Ramlila Maidan from October 25 to November 3, Central District Deputy Commissioner of Police Rohit Rajbir Singh said.

According to the DCP, Ramlila Maidan has been designated as a permitted venue for protests under a new circular. The Congress party first approached the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), the land-owning agency, to check the availability of the venue and subsequently applied to the police for an NOC.

The police held discussions with the organisers on security arrangements, volunteer deployment, CCTV surveillance and crowd management. After consultations with relevant agencies, including the traffic police and fire services, the NOC was granted on Friday.

The Congress party will now complete the remaining formalities with the MCD.

DCP Singh said Ramlila Maidan can accommodate approximately 35,000 to 40,000 people. He added that the procedure for organising a protest involves securing a date from the MCD, followed by police verification and discussions on security arrangements before the NOC is issued.

The Delhi Police is coordinating with the traffic police to ensure smooth traffic movement during the protest period. A dedicated team from the local police station has also been assigned to manage the gatherings and facilitate the orderly movement of crowds.
