CEC row LIVE: Delhi Police transfers trespassing case against CJP leaders to Crime Branch
Delhi Police on Monday transferred the trespassing case against Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka to its Crime Branch unit, shortly after their judicial custody was extended by two days, according to police sources.
Police have now transferred the case to the Inter State Cell unit of Crime Branch for further investigation.
Das and Ranka were sent to judicial custody on October 14 by a Special Executive Magistrate for allegedly trespassing into private premises to reach Jantar Mantar, which was denotified as a protest site a day before, and violating bonds requiring them to maintain peace.
Their associate Ajinkya Shinde was bound down to maintain peace and good behaviour for six months and released on a personal bond and a surety of Rs 5,000.

Mamata Banerjee calls custody of CJP leaders ‘state-sponsored terrorism’, demands immediate release
Former chief minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee condemned the extended custody of Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das, accusing the authorities of targeting Gen Z protesters and attacking democracy.
I can understand the desperate motive to extend the custody of Ashutosh and Saurav. This is a dangerous virus being used on a daily basis to attack democracy. Stop torturing the boys and girls of Gen Z. Those in power today, will not be in power tomorrow. From Kolkata to Delhi to Mumbai - throughout the country, atrocities have reached unprecedented levels. When our forefathers stood up to colonial rulers, they too had to face atrocities and yet they fought with conviction and valor. Let me say it clearly: this is state-sponsored terrorism. These are police-sponsored atrocities. These cannot sustain for long. When people with conviction keep standing up strongly for the cause, to Save India, to Save Democracy- only then will these arrogant and blindfolded politicians in government open their eyes. By that time the people would have won, and the murderers of democracy will be finished. If you believe in democracy, release Ashutosh and Saurav immediately.
