Keralam: After hearing appeals, the Kerala High Court granted bail to the Additional District and Sessions Judge in connection with a fatal car accident involving his 17-year-old son.

Justice Kauser Edappagath passed the anticipatory bail plea for the accused.  However, the detailed order is awaited. The investigating officer was asked by the court to submit the details of similar juvenile driving cases which were booked for culpable homicide amounting to murder, as per reports from The New Indian Express.

The father of the accused approached the High Court asking for relief after the police named him as an accused in this accident case. The car involved in the accident was registered in the Judge’s name and was allegedly driven by his minor son.

The accident occurred during the early hours of October 25, when Jayabalakrishnan (55), of South Chittoor in Cheranalloor, was hit by a speeding Mercedes-Benz on Container Road at Marapparambu.

The High Court, as per an interim order, had directed the police to arrest the judge on October 29 and asked him to cooperate with the probe in the accident case.

As The New Indian Express reported, after the allegations against each other from both parties involved in the accident grew, the judge ordered that further court proceedings be conducted in camera, despite family counsel’s objection.
