Newyork: New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced the release on Tuesday (September 8) of more than 170,000 pages of records documenting the city’s response to the September 11 attacks and their aftermath, alongside a settlement of two lawsuits seeking access to files related to post-9/11 health and air-quality concerns.

The documents are available through a new city online portal and include records on health issues, air quality and the wider municipal response to the attacks, according to the mayor's office. They also include the so-called Harding Memo, previously unlocated records known as the "68 boxes," and files concerning World Trade Centre 7.

The lawsuits were brought by advocacy group 9/11 Health Watch and focused on the disclosure of city records, rather than claims over health or air quality themselves.

City officials said they expect to release substantially more documents over the next year after reviewing files and removing personal information.

The administration also said it would assign staff to help people seeking to document their presence in the New York City Exposure Zone for federal health and compensation programs.
