Santa Cruz: Bolivian authorities said on Wednesday they had arrested two Brazilians identified by Brazilian authorities as senior members of the First Capital Command (PCC) and Comando Vermelho criminal gangs, in coordinated operations between Bolivian and Brazilian security forces.
Bolivia's Government Minister Marco Antonio Oviedo said the arrests were carried out as part of the so-called ‘Secure Borders Plan’ in Santa Cruz de la Sierra.
One of those detained was Angelica Saraiva de Sa, known as ‘Angeliquinha’, whom Brazilian authorities identify as a leader of Comando Vermelho in northern Mato Grosso state. She was arrested on Tuesday in a joint operation. According to Brazilian authorities, Saraiva de Sa had been a fugitive since escaping from a women's prison in 2025. She faced six arrest warrants and prison sentences totalling about 260 years for crimes including homicide, drug trafficking and criminal organisation.
Oviedo also reported the arrest of Roberto Prieto Filho, known as ‘Betinho’ and identified as a PCC leader. He had been on the run since 2022 after being rescued from a prison in São Paulo state. Betinho was also arrested on Tuesday in Santa Cruz.
