Russia; Ukraine: Russia said on Thursday that its forces had seized a settlement in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region, while Kyiv reported a strike on a major Russian oil refinery.
In its daily report, the Russian Defence Ministry said its forces had taken control of a settlement in Kharkiv and continued combat operations aimed at capturing two other settlements in the region.
The ministry also said Russian drones had struck a dry-cargo ship carrying supplies for Ukrainian forces at sea. The vessel was heading towards the Port of Chornomorsk in Ukraine’s Odesa region.
On the same day, Ukraine’s General Staff said its forces had carried out a military strike against the Omsk Oil Refinery in Russia, marking the second attack on the facility this year.
Omsk Region Governor Vitaly Khotsenko said a drone had reached the northern industrial zone of Omsk city on Thursday. The area is home to several major petrochemical facilities, including the Omsk Oil Refinery, one of Russia’s largest.
Meanwhile, Russian strikes on the Ukrainian capital caused casualties, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said. Four people were killed and 19 injured, including two who were in critical condition. Thirteen of those injured were hospitalised, with critically injured patients receiving intensive care.
Ukraine’s Ministry of Energy reported earlier on Thursday that Russian attacks had targeted power grid facilities in Kyiv, triggering outages at multiple locations. Extensive disruptions affected parts of the city, leaving many residents without electricity and causing unstable power supplies in some areas.
Russian forces also attacked two passenger buses in the Donetsk region on Thursday, killing at least 30 people, according to local officials.
