Tehran: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Monday mocked US President Donald Trump over his recent warning that Washington and its allies would “soon finish the job” unless Tehran changed course, saying Iran also had “unfinished jobs”.
In a post on X, Araghchi criticised Trump’s endorsement of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ahead of Israel’s upcoming elections. He said Iran had emerged stronger the last time the United States issued a similar ultimatum.
Challenging Trump to try his luck again, Araghchi warned that Iran remained prepared to retaliate against any escalation in the conflict.
“Last time you wanted to ‘finish the job’, Iran emerged even stronger. Want to try your luck again? Be our guest. But be careful; we have unfinished jobs too,” he wrote.
Araghchi also accused Netanyahu of pushing the United States towards another war to protect himself from legal troubles, regardless of the consequences for Israel or Washington.
“Netanyahu is driving America into another war to stay out of jail, whatever the consequences for Israel—let alone POTUS,” Araghchi wrote.
Trump calls Netanyahu a ‘Great Warrior Prime Minister’
Araghchi’s remarks followed Trump’s public endorsement of Netanyahu for re-election. In a post on Truth Social, Trump praised the Israeli leader for his handling of the conflict with Iran, describing him as a “Great Warrior Prime Minister” and an even greater “Partner for Peace”.
Trump pointed to Tehran’s longstanding hostility towards Israel and the United States, citing what he described as its “51-year-old chant” of “Death to Israel, Death to America! We will destroy the Little Satan and the Big Satan.”
Arguing that threats of this nature could eventually translate into action, Trump said Iran had been weakened militarily and financially but continued to pose a danger.
Unless Tehran changed course quickly, he warned, the United States and its allies would “soon finish the job”.
Trump also praised Netanyahu for his resilience amid years of domestic and international pressure, describing him as “Strong, Brave, and Brilliant”. He said the Israeli leader had grown stronger rather than yielding under pressure.
Netanyahu thanks Trump for endorsement
Netanyahu thanked Trump for what he called an “extraordinary endorsement”, presenting the upcoming Israeli election as a decisive choice in addressing the Iranian nuclear threat.
In a video message shared on X, Netanyahu praised Trump’s leadership and described their partnership as crucial to confronting Iran’s nuclear ambitions and stabilising global energy markets.
“President Trump, my dear friend Donald, I’m so honoured and humbled by your extraordinary endorsement,” Netanyahu said, adding that there had never been a greater friend of Israel in the White House.
He also praised Trump for confronting what he described as a threat posed by Iran’s leadership, citing Tehran’s anti-Israel and anti-US rhetoric and its alleged pursuit of nuclear weapons and delivery capabilities.
“America has been fortunate to have a leader of conviction, of clarity, of courage, who faces down this threat to America and to Israel,” Netanyahu said.
He added that Trump was “laser-focused” on removing the threat for current and future generations of Americans.
Trump also shared Netanyahu’s video message on Truth Social.
