Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi warned on Tuesday that the United States and Israel could launch another war against Iran, saying Tehran was fully prepared to defend itself, as Washington announced a fresh round of sanctions targeting Iranian-linked shipping operations and other entities.

Araghchi said the United States had effectively fallen into a trap set by Israel, or more specifically, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He accused Netanyahu of pursuing his personal political ambitions rather than serving the interests of the American or Israeli people.

Netanyahu recently responded publicly to US President Donald Trump's endorsement of his re-election bid, saying Trump also sought the total elimination of the Iranian threat and would not partner with anyone else if he were not Israel's prime minister.

Netanyahu also said he had instructed the Israel Defense Forces, Mossad and the Military Intelligence Directorate to bring about regime change in Iran.

Meanwhile, the US Treasury Department on Wednesday announced new Iran-related sanctions targeting a law firm based in Panama and Greece, shipping agents in Singapore and the United Arab Emirates, and multiple cargo vessels.
