United States: US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that the United States could launch another attack on Iran or reach what he described as a “nice, big, beautiful agreement” with Tehran.
Trump made the remarks while interacting with reporters after casting his ballot in Florida ahead of the November 3 US midterm elections.
Asked whether the US would carry out another attack on Iran, Trump said, “Do you really think I'd tell you that? Maybe tomorrow…There's a possibility I will. There's also a possibility we'll have a nice, big, beautiful agreement. They want to make a deal, but the problem is, will they hold the deal?”
Trump had recently said on social media that he would not attack Iran again before the November 3 midterm elections.
He defended his administration's actions in West Asia and praised the US military's performance.
“We have done an amazing job. Our Navy and military have done an amazing job. They have knocked out every jet fighter of Iran. 259 ships are at the bottom of the sea. They are only left with record inflation,” he said.
Trump repeated his claim that Iran wanted to reach an agreement but questioned whether Tehran would honour any deal.
Meanwhile, Iran has made no new proposal to Pakistani mediators and has rejected a reported offer to the United States on reopening the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for lifting the US naval blockade, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps-affiliated Tasnim news agency reported.
According to Press TV, sources told Tasnim that reports published by a Saudi Arabian outlet about the proposal were “a lie and fabrication”.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian accused Washington of disrupting negotiations to end the war but said he still believed an agreement should be reached.
In comments aired on Iranian state television, Pezeshkian said Iran's supreme leader had instructed officials to “go and finish it (the deal)”. However, he alleged that the US had broken the rules of negotiation.

“These scoundrels broke the rules of the game. We were holding talks, and they disrupted them,” he said.
Anxiety has been growing in Iran and elsewhere over the possibility that the US or Israel could resume attacks before or shortly after Tuesday's elections in Israel or the US midterm elections.
On the war between Russia and Ukraine, Trump expressed hope for a resolution and said Washington would do business with both countries after the conflict ends.
Turning to domestic politics, Trump sharply criticised the Democrats, accusing them of widespread corruption across several cities and states.
