New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday named Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) chief Hafiz Saeed as an accused in its supplementary chargesheet in the Pahalgam terror attack case.
In the chargesheet filed before the NIA Special Court in Jammu, the anti-terror agency charged Pakistan-based Saeed in his individual capacity and also as the chief of the banned LeT and its proxy outfit, The Resistance Front (TRF), the agency said in a statement.
Saeed has been charged under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), 1967. The NIA has also charged him with waging war against India and conspiring from across the border to orchestrate the attack.
The supplementary chargesheet, filed in continuation of the original 1,597-page chargesheet, details Pakistan's alleged conspiracy, Saeed's role and the evidence collected by the NIA through scientific investigation and on-ground examination.
In its original chargesheet filed on December 15, 2025, the NIA named Pakistani handler Sajid Jatt, three terrorists killed by security forces during Operation Mahadev in July 2025, and two arrested accused.
The agency had also charged the banned LeT/TRF as a legal entity for its alleged role in planning, facilitating and executing the Pahalgam terror attack.
The attack, carried out in Pahalgam on April 22 last year, targeted tourists. Twenty-five tourists and a local resident were killed after Pakistan-sponsored terrorists opened fire on them.
An FIR was initially registered at the Pahalgam police station before the case was transferred to the NIA by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs following preliminary investigation.
"The NIA continues to investigate the case to unravel the complete conspiracy by Pakistan, which has been actively sponsoring terrorism on Indian soil from across the border," the agency said.
