Ranchi:The youth and students' wings of the AJSU party took out a protest march on Thursday against alleged irregularities in the results of JPSC and JSSC examinations.
Demanding a CBI probe into the alleged irregularities in the results of the 14th Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) examination, the protestors gathered at the Jaipal Singh Munda stadium and took out the march.
The agitators carrying placards reading slogans like "Cancel 14th JPSC", "Recommend CBI Probe in JPSC" and "Reform JPSC, JSSC Functioning", marched towards Lok Bhawan. They were, however, stopped by the police ahead of the main gate of Lok Bhavan.
AJSU student union president Om Verma said, "JPSC seats are being sold at ₹25 lakh to ₹1 crore, playing with the future of thousands of students. We demand a CBI probe into the irregularities in the results of the 14th JPSC examination and complete reform in the functioning of JPSC and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC)."
The protestors claimed that there was large-scale corruption in the 14th JPSC Combined Civil Services Preliminary Examination held on April 19.
They alleged that the commission did not issue category-wise cut-off marks before announcing the results, which were declared earlier this month.
AJSU youth wing member Rituraj Shahdeo said, "The Centre took responsibility for the NEET paper leak. The Hemant Soren-led government should also take responsibility for irregularities in the JPSC examinations."
He alleged that the case has been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). "We do not have faith in its investigation. It is trying to cover up the case by showing a few arrests. We want a CBI probe into the matter," Shahdeo added.
The CID has so far arrested 10 people in connection with the alleged irregularities in the examinations conducted by the PSC, while the commission postponed the JPSC Combined Civil Services Mains Exam, scheduled from July 25 to July 27, citing "unavoidable circumstances", amid protests by the opposition BJP.
The agency also questioned former JPSC chairman L Khiangte for two consecutive days on Tuesday and Wednesday in connection with the case. He has also been called for the third round of questioning on Friday, an official said.
