Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday called on all institutions and political parties to unite in the national interest and fight together against the country's enemies, while describing ‘Ram Rajya’ as a model of good governance based on justice, equality and public welfare.

Addressing Dussehra celebrations at the DDA Utsav Ground in IP Extension, New Delhi, Modi said Vijayadashami symbolises the victory of good over evil and gives people the confidence that truth and humanity will ultimately prevail.

“May our thoughts be aligned, and may all the institutions of the nation, all political parties, stand together for the national interest. We must proceed with this very spirit and we must fight together against the enemies of the country,” he said.

The Prime Minister said the ideals of Lord Ram continued to guide governance, describing Ram Rajya as a system in which no one faces discrimination, everyone receives justice and equal opportunities, and power is used for public welfare rather than to rule. He also called for prioritising the service of the poor and deprived.

Emphasising self-reliance and collective effort, Modi said the country should not depend on others to overcome crises but should have faith in its resources and find solutions through hard work. Referring to Lord Ram’s journey to Lanka, he said unwavering resolve and public participation could turn seemingly impossible goals into reality.

Modi also spoke about preserving India’s cultural heritage, saying that more than 650 ancient idols had been brought back to the country over the past 12 years. He said safeguarding heritage and restoring the identity of cultural centres were important to national self-respect.

Concluding his address, the Prime Minister said Dussehra reaffirmed the belief that no matter how powerful the challenges, victory would ultimately belong to those who stood with truth and humanity.
