China on Wednesday said the situation along the Sino-India border is "generally stable at the moment" while declining to comment on reports of stepped-up Chinese military activity near the Arunachal Pradesh border.

New eligibility rules apply to direct recruitment across state departments, PSUs and local bodies.

Police said the clash erupted following a dispute over alleged encroachment by people from Arunachal Pradesh on land in Assam.

With China repeatedly renaming some places in Arunachal, India formally identified 27 places and features in the state by their standard names on the official Indian map.

The 27 locations formally marked on the official map of India include Long Ju located along the Line of Actual Control which was one of the earliest flashpoints between India and China in 1959 when Chinese forces entered the area.

No reports of damage to property or loss of life have been received so far.

Incessant rains have claimed lives along with damaging public infrastructure and utilities.

Roads, bridges, schools and public infrastructure damaged as relentless rain continues across the state.

Two persons also remained missing as heavy rain, causing flash floods and landslides, battered the state over the past seven days, damaging houses, roads, bridges and public infrastructure, a report of the State Emergency Operation Centre said.

Authorities have urged people to follow official advisories until the weather improves.

Several roads were blocked, and travellers were stranded as landslides disrupted road connectivity.
