Journalist files complaint against Rahul Gandhi over alleged protest misconduct

Another significant happening of the day was the filing of a complaint against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi by a woman journalist.

A woman journalist has lodged a formal criminal complaint with the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), New Delhi District, seeking the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, along with several others.

The complaint stems from an incident that allegedly occurred on October 12, while the journalist was on assignment covering a protest led by Rahul Gandhi near the Supreme Court premises.

Earlier, she alleged that she was "manhandled" and violently shoved by Rahul Gandhi and his security during a chaotic exit from the apex court during the protest march on Monday, an incident that resulted in physical injuries and a traumatic medical emergency for the reporter, who is currently in her first trimester of pregnancy.

Imran Khan files plea in Bombay HC against 'Leave India' notice

Actor Imran Khan, who was directed to leave India by October 28 for allegedly violating rules by participating in the protest against CEC, filed a petition in the Bombay High Court challenging the notice on Saturday. Khan is a US citizen and an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholder.

The 43-year-old actor, in the plea filed through his advocate Zulfiquar Memon and MZM Legal, termed the notice as "illegal, perverse, drastic and bad in law."

The plea requested the High Court to quash the notice and stay its operation in an interim relief.

The plea stated that there is no provision under the current law or statutory rules that prohibits an OCI cardholder from participating in a peaceful protest.

As the protests continue for the resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar, the national capital remains under heightened security.
